New Release
News 01.04.06 2006 is the new 2005.

Happy New Year friends! So far, 2006 has been kind. Our little 4-song demo made 3WK's Top 200 of 2005 list after just a couple weeks in rotation in December. This past week we landed at #12 on their CMJ chart!

We have a bunch of new shows lined up between now and March. Our next show is right around the corner on January 14 at Asterisk Art Space in Bushwick. We're playing a big party being thrown by The Deli Magazine and StereoactiveNYC.com. Check out our shows page for the latest.

Lastly, a new temporary website is in the works. We're sick of the clutter and sick of pink. 2006 = a leaner meaner Fatales. Expect more black soon. xo.

11.10.05 Show Announcement

We are happy to announce that we will be playing at the Knitting Factory Tap Room on Saturday November 19. We will be opening for our friends from Richmond, VA, Gregor Samsa. It's been a couple years since we shared the stage together. These kids are amazing and not to be missed. Also on the bill is Sans Souci. Advance tickets can be purchased here.

Also, remember to mark your calendars for our VICIOUS show at Rothko on Tuesday, December 13.

10.19.05 Stadtpark featured on NPR

We're thrilled to announce that one of the songs from our new demo, Stadtpark, has been chosen for a feature on this week's All Songs Considered - Open Mic on NPR. Please take a moment to have a listen and cast your vote. We'd love to have your feedback.

Other songs from the demo are also starting to infiltrate the blog world. Many thanks to OhMyRockness Radio and Verbose Coma for featuring the new tunes first.

We are not selling the demo, but are hoping that you will still help us out by downloading the available tracks and spreading the word. We'd love to attract a friendly label who will help give these songs a proper release. In the meantime, you can also hear these three songs in their entirety on our MySpace site: www.myspace.com/thefatales.

We can't believe it's been two years since we released Pretty in Pixels! Thanks for your patience and support. We hope you enjoy our new work and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

10.19.05 Ladytron DJ show update.

We're sorry to report that we will no longer be opening up for the Ladytron DJ show at Rothko on November 11. If you already purchased tickets to the show, please contact Rothko for refund details.

We have rescheduled a show for Tuesday, December 13 at Rothko for VICIOUS. We will be going on at 9PM. Please mark your calendars. More dates to come!

10.06.05 news news news.

Many thanks to everyone who made it out to to CMJ to see us at Trash or Pianos. We had a great week and met a lot of decent people. For those of you who were lucky enough to snag a copy of our new demo, please blog about it, post mp3s, and help spread the word. We're really excited about these new songs and how positive the feedback's been so far. For the rest of you, we're trying to figure out a way to make the new tunes available to you since we won't be self-releasing another album anytime in the near future. Hopefully, to tie you over, some samples will be posted on our website soon.

We're in the process of booking our next shows for the Fall which will be in November and December. So far, we've confirmed one date we're thrilled to be a part of. The Ladytron DJs (Reuben & Mira from Ladytron) will be at Rothko, spinning some highly danceable tunes on Friday November 11. We'll be warming things up for them with a live set at 10:00 or 11:00. They'll follow at midnight. More details to come. It should be a fun time. We hope you'll come out and get your 'tron on with us.

08.21.05 CMJ Music Marathon!

We're excited to announce that we've been invited to be play this year's CMJ Music Marathon in NYC again. We tentatively have two showcases lined up. The first will be Wednesday night, September 14, at Trash in Williamsburg. The second will be a Saturday matinee, September 17, at Pianos. Stay tuned for details.

In other news, we're finally seeing some daylight after being holed up in the studio for a while recording a few new songs. They're currently being mixed and we hope to have something for you to listen to soon.

06.10.05 Back to the studio

Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows at Mercury Lounge and DC9. Special thanks to Eric at Big Yawn, 302 Acid for their flexibility and help, and Say Hi To Your Mom for the words of wisdom. Over the next couple of months, The Fatales will be working on various side projects, but will mostly be hiding away in their practice space to finish up some unreleased material which we hope to bring into the studio to record in August. There may be a show scheduled here & there too. Stay tuned for breaking news.

05.10.05 Two Shows & A Million Thanks

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to the benefit for Darfur at Northsix on April 26. We can't believe how well everything turned out with just two weeks of planning and under a week of promotion. By the end of the night, over 300 people showed up in droves and helped us raise over $2000 for the cause! This money might not seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, but in reality will help provide proper medical care and basic levels of comfort for thousands of Sudanese refugees for months to come, saving countless lives.

Before we get into our long list of thank yous, we wanted to let you know about our next 2 shows coming up. Mark your calendars!

Tuesday, May 31
w/ 22-20s, The Izzys, & Say Hi To Your Mom (CD Release Party)
Mercury Lounge
New York, NY

Thursday, June 2
w/ 302 Acid, Jukuta & Carl
DC9 (sponsored by BigYawn.net)
Washington, D.C.

***************************
OK, so we can't express enough gratitude to Jeffrey Lewis and Kevin Devine for their brilliant and inspired performances and their constant efforts to get us fired up about the stuff that matters; and of course to Stars for their last-minute heroics by not only accepting, but embracing our harebrained proposition to ammend their tour schedule and headline the event. A big thank you also goes out to Bob at Northsix for believing that we could pull this thing off. Finally, we wanted to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Kevin Phelan of Doctors Without Borders, Dr. Annie Sparrow of Human Rights Watch, David Rubenstein of the Save Darfur Coalition, Tali, Stephanie, Evan, and Jen.

Thanks also to Benzos, Carol Bui, and Stamen & Pistils for the late-night comraderie in D.C.

04.22.05 STARS TO HEADLINE BENEFIT

We just found out that Montreal's Stars (Broken Social Scene, Arts & Crafts) will be headlining Tuesday's Darfur benefit concert at Northsix!!! We're so excited about their participation and enthusiasm, especially considering they already have 2 soldout shows in NY later in the week! For fans of Broken Social Scene, Metric, New Order, The Smiths, Pulp, and even Marvin Gaye -- you're in for a real treat. Tickets are only $10 advance, $12 day of the show (this compared to $15/17 for their other shows next week)! With Jeffrey Lewis & Kevin Devine already on the bill, it promises to be a really memorable night. Please note that the concert will now benefit Doctors Without Borders and Human Rights Watch in addition to the Save Darfur Coalition.

04.20.05 NEWSNEWSNEWS

We're very excited to announce that in lieu of our cancelled show at Rothko this coming Tuesday, April 26, we have teamed up instead with Northsix in Brooklyn to perform a benefit concert for the Save Darfur Coalition and the International Rescue Committee! These are two of the primary organizations spreading awareness and providing relief for the genocide happening in the Darfur region of the Sudan.

Sharing the bill are two absolutely amazing musicians, Kevin Devine and Jeffrey Lewis (Rough Trade). Combined, Kevin & Jeff have opened for the likes of Bright Eyes, Arcade Fire, the Fall, Frank Black, British Sea Power, The Fiery Furnaces, and Thurston Moore. Jeffrey is equally well known as an illustrator, occasionally incorporating "low budget videos" (large ragged comic books displayed to accompany songs) into his live set. We caught Jeff at the Rough Trade CMJ showcase a couple years ago, and he was absolutely brilliant.

We hope to see you at Northsix on Tuesday night. Thanks in advance for your help in making this benefit a success.

9:00 - The Fatales
10:00 - Jeffrey Lewis
11:00 - Kevin Devine

Doors at 8PM, $10, Advance tickets sold through TicketWeb

For anyone who purchased tickets in advance from Ticketweb, please contact rothko_nyc@yahoo.com. If you have any problems, please email us at band@thefatales.com to let us know.

We're trying our best to reschedule a date and will keep you posted!

04.01.05 news news news

Thanks to everyone who made it out to one of our shows last month. We're psyched to be playing live again. The show on March 12 at Pianos was absolutely insane. Sorry to anyone who wasn't able to get in! A big thank you to Benzos and Kari Dexter, and also Tanya Phattiyakul for use of her beautiful projections.

Next month we have two really exciting shows. On Sunday April 24, we'll be playing our first show at DC9 in Washington, D.C. Once again, we'll be sharing the stage with Benzos, as well as our good friends Stamen & Pistils.

Then on Tuesday April 26, we're back up to NYC for an amazing VICIOUS party at Rothko. This will be our first time playing with Au Revoir Simone, one of our favorite NYC bands; and we can't wait to hear The Organ who've not only played with the Kaiser Chiefs, the Dears, Arcade Fire, and Interpol, but are about to embark on a three-week tour with the legendary Wedding Present! 02.03.05 News

Much thanks to all the good people who have ordered Pretty in Pixels over the past few months. At this rate, we're having to save our monies for a third pressing! Our apologies to those who have grown restless waiting for their order, as it seems both stuffing envelopes AND walking them down to the post office is, at times, too much for us to handle. Thanks for your patience. We're also very grateful to all of the awesome DJs and radio staff across the country (and Canada!) who have continued to support us.

We are currently finalizing shows for the upcoming months, so check back often for confirmed dates. I know the boys are eager to show off a variety of new pedals and amps and things that Santa brought them. You'll also get to see some new slacks, I'm sure.

Finally, we've been chatting with some very fine record labels. Needless to say, we're planning on this year being a very big one for us. Stay tuned. We're excited.

Cheers,
Dan and The Fatales, WayneChrisJamesDanRyan

12.14.04 Review - The Tripwire - Newly Discovered

"...Incorporating Radiohead-esque guitar, electronic elements, strings, piano and various layers of sampling, The Fatáles create a rich sonic springboard for frontman Wayne Switzer's guttural, masculine, sometimes out of control vocals. They work the electronics into the mix extremely effectively, using them to segue between tracks and create an overall natural and flowing vibe to the record....[which include] the blip-filled EP opener "The Cosmonaut", [and] the driving, brooding and dark "Ministry Of Defense"..."

12.07.04 New News - Holiday Edition!

Pour a big cup of nog and get excited, 'cause our Pretty in Pixels radio campaign continues to be a huge success! Currently, PIP is #55 in the college charts. It was also the 14th most-added disc to rotations across the country.

If your local independent station isn't spinning Pretty in Pixels, remember that many of the above stations stream online, so hit up the internets! "Ministry of Defense" seems to be the DJs' choice, followed by "The Cosmonaut". This guy certainly seems to like "MOD". And bloggering. God bless bloggerers.

In other news, this coming winter will see our usual sweater-wearing interupted by a full-scale Fatales Guitar Army assualt on DC and NYC. Check back often as we recieve updates from the show front. Our hunkalicious commander-in-chief, Wayne, is returning from a tour in Europe and looks to be fitter than ever.

Now, I've got some nog to tend to. And you have some shopping to tend to. Happy holidays, and may Santa fill your stockings with rack units and floor toms.

cheers!
Dan and the Guitar Army, WayneRyanChrisDanJamesthePickle

10.29.04 NEWS - Special Halloween Edition. You know, with spiders. And some goblins maybe.

If you're like me, you're eating candy right now. Most likely sweettarts. That you stole from the office down the hall. Well stop porkin' it up and peep this...

We started a radio promotion campaign with Team Clermont! That's right, call up your favorite college or independent radio station and request a track off of Pretty in Pixels. Particularly cool stations should have the album by this Tuesday, Nov. 2. Just in time for the voting season!

In other, slightly less exciting news, Chris and I will be at the Starflyer show at the Black Cat Black Cat November 12th, in DC. If you see us, grab a drink and say hello.

Speaking of shows, we'll be back out on the road this winter, when Wayne gets back from Vienna. He has promised me fancy sweets, but then again he also promised me his heart years ago and, well, a girl like me ain't gonna wait around forevah.

Happy trick-or-treating, and please don't egg my truck this year.

Cheers,
Dan and The Fatales, WayneChrisDanJamesRyan

Autumn has arrived! Check out the new reviews:

The Tripwire - "...one of the coolest unsolicited CDs we've received in a long time."

Splendid - "...should be enough to tag them as one of the best-unsigned bands in the country."

Jenyk.com - "...glorious and grandly majestic...perfectly balanced chops, duds, hooks, and looks..."

Also, for those of you PayPal haters. Pretty in Pixels is now available for purchase (at a premium) through Insound.

More to come. Stay tuned.

It's New News! Just like old news, but newer.

We've been invited to perform in a CMJ showcase again this year! Last year was awesome. We got to play with the The Dresden Dolls and drink beers with real-life rock stars Clearlake!

Which is why it kills me to say......we can't play this year. That's right. Wayne is away, "working" in Austria. I must be doing something wrong, 'cause my average workday doesn't involve eating pastries or making out with cute Austrian girls. Hopefully he'll get fired or fat, or both, and we'll be back on the road this winter.

Some really pretty photos of us, along with a review of our Pianos show, can be found at jenyk.com. Actually, the whole site is very nice - Jasper's pics are dreamy.

Also, check out an interview I did with crashinin.com. And be sure to read some of those other interviews, so mine doesn't sound so dorky.

Peep this super nice review from Splendid Magazine. Yay for independent music reviewers!

And speaking of how awesome our friend Andrew Prinz is, we're still mixing a few songs he recorded for us. They are sounding super sexy, and I am already enjoying them as much as, if not way more than, our Pretty in Pixels recordings. Delicious!

Finally, we'd like to give a long overdue and proper thanks to the talented Tanya Phattiyakul for her fine visual work used during our sets in NYC. Her images should be perfect for the next round of shows. Assuming we know how to work the projector.

Now, stop screwing around and get back to work. Dammit. Download and surf on your own time!

Cheers!

I'm sure of it....we have the greatest friends and fans in the world. Much thanks to everyone who came out to our recent shows in DC and Manhattan. We met some awesome people and saw many familiar faces.

The New York heat and various traffic violations couldn't stop the rock, as delicious music and gelato triumphed. The Album Leaf delivered a pretty heavenly set at IOTA, in keeping with their recordings. And while the wonderful folks at Rothko and Pianos (big hugs to Lio and Jasper) in the lower east side apparently like their music really really really LOUD, La Laque and PS managed to turn in some sweet performances. La Laque's surf-ilicious guitar demanded some hot air-guitaring from more than one member of the crowd. OK....so maybe just me. More reverb please!

Speaking of joyous reverb, we were able to record a few songs in Brooklyn at Simdisc with Andrew Prinz! If you didn't just wet your pants with glee, it's because you're not yet familiar with the likes of Mahogany, Auburn Lull, or Saloon, all with which Andrew is associated (they're available via Darla Records, and are hot!). He let us hear some of the new Mahogany album, and it is dream-tastic. We're mixing the new songs now, and they'll be available in some form or another, uh, sometime soon.

In other supremely great news, our song Ministry of Defense will be included on an upcoming Velvet Blue Music unsigned band compilation. Starflyer 59 fans will recognize Velvet Blue as Jeff Cloud's (bass man for SF59 and Joy Electric) small-but-awesome label. Check out the likes of Velvet Blue artists LN or MAP. You won't be disappointed. We're huge fans of Cloud and Starflyer 59. We're talking giggly schoolgirl-type fans here. I have a pin-up of Jason Martin in my locker. Seriously. I do.

I could go on about this crazy crap for days but you people have work and studies to tend to. And i have donuts to tend to. Enough loafing!

cheers,
DAN-don't-call-me-creepy-SISCO and the fatales.
